During World War II, a special committee was set up to insure the flow of goods and services to the military.
The committee was known as the Senate Special Committee to Investigate the National Defense Program or just the "Truman Committee."

Roosevelt died less than three months later and Harry Truman became President.
After Germany had surrendered, Truman made the final decision to use two atomic bombs on Japan ending that war.
He helped in the founding of the United Nations and dealt with the first provocations of the Soviet Union after the war.
