Jodie Foster is a very respected Academy Award winning actress and film maker.
She began acting in television commercials when she was only three years old.
Foster's father came from a wealthy background but left his wife prior to the actual birth of his to-be-famous daughter.
Her mother worked for a movie producer to support the family and auditioned her four children for films whenever possible.
In 1965, Foster appeared in a sun tan lotion commercial where a dog pulled down her bathing suit.
That commercial was very well received by the public and, over the next several years, Foster appeared in numerous TV shows and commercials.
Some of the shows she played included several Walt Disney productions, Gunsmoke, and a hosting appearance for Saturday Night Live.
In 1975, Foster ventured into top critical acclaim by appearing as a 12 year old sex worker in the movie "Taxi Driver" co-starring Robert De Niro.
She was nominated for an Academy Award as "Best Supporting Actress" in the above picture which led to several more film roles.
Her mother saw that the children's education would not be neglected and Foster graduated in 1980 from a French speaking prep school in Los Angeles.
Foster continued taking acting roles in several movies gradually leading away from acting as a teen into more adult roles.
She still managed to continue her education and graduated with high honors from Yale University in 1985.
Over the next few years, Foster won Academy Awards for Best Actress in The Accused and The Silence of the Lambs.
Now a seasoned actor, Foster decided to broaden her skills by directing and producing films.
Foster has been involved in several films where she has won the Saturn Award for Best Actress.
In 2008, Jodie Foster won the coveted People's Choice Award for Favorite Female Action Star.
